The ghunghat of secrecy over the controversial content of Padmavati has finally been lifted .The film will be shown before release to handpicked individuals , scholars ,historians and a few politicians.
The pre-release screening will happen as soon as Padmavati is certified by the Central Board Of Film Certification(CBFC).
Confirming this Ajit Andhare the COO Viacom 18 Motion Pictures who are co-producers on Padmavati says, “We are focusing first on securing the censor certificate. Once we have that we as producers are happy to screen it selectively to representatives if needed to quell any doubts or misgivings.”
However Ajit adds that there is no rule as such for a film being shown to any other individual or body of individuals once a film is certified. “Although there is no precedent of such a screening and CBFC alone is the statutory body tasked by the Government of India for this. However we are ready to make an exception given the scope of unfounded misgivings about the film.”
