On the July 19 episode of MBC’s variety show “Omniscient Interfering View”, Park Ju-hyun appeared as a guest alongside singer Roy Kim, revealing behind-the-scenes stories about her debut and early career.
Netflix Debut and Confused Professor
Park Ju-hyun recounted her breakout role in Netflix’s original series “Extracurricular”, revealing it was her first-ever acting gig. “The filming took place in 2019, and my school only allowed outside work starting from third year,” she explained.
When she informed her professor that she would be taking a break from school to star in a drama, things didn’t go smoothly: “Back then, nobody really knew what Netflix was. My professor asked ‘Which company is that? What channel is it on?’, thinking it was just some online broadcast.”
Family Reactions and Image Concerns
She admitted that her bold first role made her mother very concerned. When Yang Se-hyung asked if her character’s strong personality was far from her own, Park quipped “They were worried because that’s exactly how I am”, causing laughter.
Park then revealed a surprising moment from her teenage years: a street casting offer from SM Entertainment.
“I’m from Busan, and one day while visiting Lotte World, I was cast on the street,” she said. However, as someone who already loved music deeply, the idea of becoming a K-pop idol felt overwhelming: “It felt like too much pressure.”

Instead of pursuing idol training, Park followed her passion in a different way: “I started a high school band and focused on my love for music that way.”
Now a well-respected actress, Park Ju-hyun is best known for her roles in “Extracurricular”, “Mouse” and “Love All Play”, and continues to capture hearts with her charm, honesty and talent both on and off-screen.
