Patrick Mahomes’ Devastating Super Bowl Loss Didn’t Keep Him Away From 1 Place

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes may have faced a devastating Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, but he didn’t let that keep him from enjoying what’s quickly become a family tradition in the off-season.
Just weeks after the Chiefs’ defeat, Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, whisked their two oldest kids, Sterling, 4, and Bronze, 2, to Walt Disney World in Florida—a vacation usually reserved for the most recent Super Bowl winner.
Patrick Mahomes and His Family Enjoy a Disney World Adventure
According to a 14-photo carousel on Brittany’s Instagram, the Mahomes crew (minus 3-month-old baby Golden) are enjoying some time with Mickey Mouse in Orlando. Captioned, “the best trip with our besties,” the photos showed Sterling shaking Mickey Mouse’s hand at Town Square Theater and meeting Cinderella.
Sterling and her pal wore matched striped Disney dresses to meet “Frozen” characters Anna and Elsa, and then mom and daughter spent some alone time together in a kayak out on the water.
The Mahomes family also enjoyed a safari in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, where they spotted a giraffe.
Patrick Mahomes and His Crew Are Making the Most of the Offseason
This isn’t the first time that the couple has shared off-season moments with the family since the Chiefs’ season ended in early February. Patrick has posted pics of fishing trips and family workouts. They also took Sterling and Bronze to see Disney on Ice just last month.
But the Disney World trip to Florida appears to be the most magical adventure so far—and the most exhausting. Some of the photos in Brittany’s carousel showed two very tired kiddos enjoying some downtime at the hotel, watching cartoons on mom’s phone.
Disney Has Been Associated With Super Bowl Winners for Decades
The Mahomes family appears to be big Disney fans. Which works out well for Patrick, considering his three Super Bowl wins during his career so far. The NFL has a long history with Disney that dates back to Super Bowl XXI in 1987.
That year, Super Bowl MVP Phil Simms of the New York Giants said right after his team’s win, “I’m going to Disney World!” for a commercial that aired at the end of the game. Shot and produced by NFL Films, the ad featured an announcer asking Simms, “What are you going to do next?” while he celebrated on the field. The song “When You Wish Upon A Star” is also used over shots of the chosen player.
Since then, every Super Bowl MVP has taken part in this tradition. Including Mahomes, who appeared in three of those commercials. After those three wins, the Mahomes celebrated with a family trip to Disneyland in Anaheim, California.
