Physical album sales are often considered one way of gauging an artist’s popularity, as fans often buy as a show of support. Lowered album sales can mean something is not going as expected, from supplier issues to a drop in popularity.

Recently, a third-gen idol’s first-day album sales left many fans shocked and angry.

In 2014, MAMAMOO made their debut under RBW as a four-membered group. MAMAMOO has grown in popularity through the years due to their massive talent, and have built a fanbase with supporters from around the world.

The group have also expanded to individual activities, including member Solar, who made her official solo debut with “Spit It Out.” Recently, the idol returned with “WANT,” which was released on April 3.

The mini album the song is featured on was also released the same day, but has yielded some surprising results.

According to the Hanteo ChartWANT only recorded 672 albums in the first day of sales.

This is a marked decrease of about 93% from her previous album Colors, which had over 10K first day sales.

Usually, the artist’ first day sales are one of the highest of the first week, as shops report preorders at that time. While there is time for the number to increase, many fans have already directed their anger towards RBW, claiming that the agency did not do enough to promote her release.

This, however, is just the first day’s totals, meaning that there is time for Solar’s first week to record a number fans would more than likely be expecting.
