Gone are the days when Bollywood producers were potbellied money-minded bores. They are now young, smart, fashionable and often sexy enough to walk the ramp.
The Ladies’ Wing of IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which turns 51 this year invited producer Prernaa Arora of KriArjEntertainment for their annual initiative Celebration & honor of International Women’s Day “IMPACT” held on March 16th 2018.
The concept for IMPACT arose with the intention to recognize the social, economic and political achievements of women in various fields. The Ladies’ Wing, over the years has organized conclaves exploring varied themes through panel discussions and seminars to understand and support the challenges & struggles they’re faced with.
Says Prernaa, “Through this endeavour we gain insights into how women in the 21st century have emerged in their own right in the areas of law, media, culture, business, health and rural development. IMPACT focuses on working towards a bright future where every Indian especially women live courageously, follow her heart, see potential, believe in herself, take risks and keep making history for years to come.”
The Ladies Wing will continue to provide support to those women that are building the world that we all dream about. Each year, the President and the Committee shapes “IMPACT” into a brand new avatar, one that supports, honors’ and celebrates every facet of womanhood in the most contemporary and relevant way.
Last year “IMPACT” was empowered by Shri. Narendra Modiji, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India addressed the celebration through video conferencing and chose the Ladies Wing as his platform through which to make a number of far-reaching national policy announcements. His address saying “Women of our country have the potential provided they are mentored and given a platform” has further encouraged IMPACT’s endeavors giving them “the wind beneath our wings to strive and further excel in all that we’ve been doing.”
Explains Prernaa, “The objective was to introduce the work of rural women artisan-entrepreneurs to a wider market, to showcase their textiles, garments, and accessories, to support and sustain their artistic skills, through various hardships have kept alive the traditional craft. This would secure the interest and well-being of women artisan to help promote their trade. We envision that through this exposure, they will gain better understanding to promote their craft help them emerge in the professional world of fashion.”
Having come this far, IMPACT realized that to take further their endeavor for the artisans and their collection there is still a further push they’d need to be noticed and recognize in this very crowded space they’re in. At IMC we hold in very high esteem of respect, and honor all women achievers. Prernaa agreed to walk as the show-stopper in their final piece.
Says Prernaa, “There were other women achievers like Simone Arora and Nirja Birla to walk the final piece for each weaver in the grand finale.I felt honoured and privileged to be sharing the ramp with these remarkable for such a noble cause.’
