Priyanka Chopra is opening up about parenting her 3-year-old daughter, Malti. “… she gets away with anything with me, honestly,” the actor revealed on the “Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce” podcast. “I’m just like, ‘Yes, take it. It’s yours.’”

Malti, whom Chopra shares with her husband, Nick Jonas, had a very rough time right after she was born prematurely, spending 110 days in the neonatal intensive care unit. “She really fought and clawed her way into life,” Chopra explained. “And I have so much admiration for her.”

Since Malti’s entrance into the world was so scary, Chopra is a little more lax in her parenting style. And Malti seems to be having a great time as a result. “She comes into my closet, she calls it the magic closet,” Chopra said. “She’ll wear my shoes, walk out. She’ll take my bag, walk out.”

Malti’s Fairy Tale Life

Chopra and Jonas love giving Malti the princess treatment. Chopra described a recent family dinner where Malti told her dad, “ … you look like a prince, I want to dance with you.” Of course Jonas took her up on the offer. Chopra said, “They were dancing for like ten minutes, it was so sweet.”

According to Chopra, Malti loves getting glam too. The actor said she keeps a little lip balm in her purse so Malti can pretend she’s putting on lipstick. And Malti was in awe of her parents when seeing them all dressed up for the Met Gala, excited that they were “going to a ball.”

Malti hasn’t yet seen her mom perform in any of her Bollywood films, but she is very into Disney movies. “Frozen, Moana, Minnie Mouse, those are our three favorite characters,” Chopra shared, adding, “Sometimes Daisy will get a cameo here and there … The princesses are dominating at the moment.”

Chopra’s Favorite Family Moments

Watching her daughter grow up is one of the greatest joys of Chopra’s life. “It’s like my escape,” Chopra said of just spending quiet time at home with her family.

If the actor has had a bad day, coming home is her favorite feeling. “… that’s what I do, I come back home to my daughter and my husband,” she explained.

Chopra continued, “I come back home, especially to her, and I just throw my bag, my shoes, whatever, and just snuggle into her.” Once Chopra has Malti in her arms, “everything is okay in the world.”
