Producer Opts For Spanish Remakes

First  Badlaa, and now producer  Sunir Khetarpal is hoping to encore the same  fomula with The Body, a thriller featuring the untried  combo of Rishi Kapoor and Emraan Hashmi.

 Badlaa which Khatarpal co-produced with Shah  Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies was  the official remake  of  the  the Spanish film The Invisible Guest. Interestingly the same  Spanish film was also the  source material for a Telugu film Evaru featuring the enterprising. this year . Both were  hits.

The  Body is  an official remake  of El Cuerpo a 2012 Spanish mystery thriller film directed by Oriol Paulo.Producer  Sunir Khetarpal earlier  bought  the remake  rights of another Spanish thriller The  Invisible  Guest.  It was made  into a successful  Hindi  film Badla  last year. 

Says  Khetarpal, “Over time we have found that the best thrillers that resonate with us come from Spain. Both The Invisible Guest and The Body have been written and directed by Oriol Paulo and both were bought by us as English scripts. Later they got made in Spain turned into remakes.”

Let’s  hope the second Spanish  sojourn in Bollywood proves  just as successful as  the  first.
