Race 3 Bad Reviews Notwithstanding It Races Ahead

The critics seem to hate Bhai’s new Eid release. But ask him if he cares. Salman Khan gives two hoots about what critics think of him and his films. This is why there are no advance press shows of Salman’s films. Even if you are a high-and-mighty critic you wait until Friday when the film releases and see it with the rest of the public.

A source very close to Salman laughs his head off at the underwhelming .“Bhai knew all along that Race 3 will get bad reviews. He has a very firm grasp of the aesthetic grammar. He knew the critics would love Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan . He knew they would hate Bodyguard and Race 3.But he knew they would be superhits, just like he knew Tubelight would flop. Bhai has a terrific gyan of what works and what doesn’t work. He knows Race 3 will work regardless of what the critics think.”

Race 3 went through some last-minute unexpected behind-the-scenes problems over the distribution of the 3D and 2D prints.

Says a source close to the development, “Since Race 3 was Salman’s first 3D film he expended extended time on getting the 3D format right. Resultantly the 2D version of Race 3 got delayed and was ready only two days before release.”

Salman whose last release Tiger Zinda Hai was a blockbuster, has much at stake here. In fact trade sources whisper that Salman is the de facto producer of Race 3.

“Ramesh Taurani only owns the music rights. All the rest of film’s financial stakes belong to Salman Khan,” says a trade source. The film is expected to earn Rs 80-90 crores over the weekend.
