Rahul Rawail Not With Shabana Azmi On Boycotting IFFI

While Shabana Azmi has asked  the  entire film industry, including Amitabh Bachchan, to boycott the  the  International Film Festival  Of  India over the Padmavati issue, filmmaker Rahul Rawail who has  just been appointed the head  of  the  jury to select films for the Indian panorama, feels  otherwise.

Reasons Rahul Rawail, “Though I  completely agree with  Shabana  on the the need  for  the  film industry to support Sanjay Leela Bhansali over  the Padmavati issue, the  boycott makes no sense as  the producers  of Padmavati have voluntarily deferred their film’s release. This means they’ve realized that the situation is  volatile and  nerves  need to be smoothed , tempers  need to be lowered.”

Rawail feels  the  boycott plan would serve  no purpose. “The entire  world is watching us. The IFFI is not the place  to protest  about Padmavati.”
