“Raita Phailane Do,” Luv Ranjan’s Classic Response To Charges Of Misogyny

Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety is a huge hit. And the bricks are flying fast and  furiously at its director  Luv Ranjan who is being accused of making a  misogynist film.

When I  asked  Ranjan about it he was as cool as a  cucumber, “Anand Bakshi Saab warned us years ago. Kuch toh log kahengelogon ka kaam hai kehna. Let people say what they want to. Raita phailane do. You will find quibblers even  if you  take the best , most lavish wedding possible. Even there you will find guests who have  a grouse  about the  food, the decoration, the hospitality and what have you. In every wedding there will be an uncle, aunt, grandfather, grandmother or cousin who  is unhappy. I don’t see the need  to pay attention to them.”

Luv Ranjan is  now going to concentrate  for a full year on  producing films. “I am taking a year-long break from direction to set up directorial projects  for all those who are part of  my team. Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety did not become a success because of me alone. it is a team effort. Now I am  giving a break to my editor Akiv Ali as a director in a film starring Ajay Devgan. I think it’s very selfish for directors to not look out for their entire team.”
