Rajnikanth’s Kabali Pre-Condition Was Trendy Togs

The Thalaiva’s  last two films Kochadaiyaan and Linga have been resounding flops. The Rajni-philes are perplexed. How can the God go wrong? Kabali ,directed by Pa Ranjith whose last film Madras was a semi-experimental success, is a made-to-order Rajni vehicle.

Kabali reverses whatever could have possibly gone wrong in the last two films.

Unlike Kochadaiyaan andLinga , Kabali is not a costume drama.Apparently the director and writers were very specifically told to put the Master Illusionist into trendy togs.

Says a source from the team, “Rajni Sir and his daughters very clearly told the Kabali team there would be no going back in time this time. The film not only had to be contemporary in setting but it also had to allow allowRajni Sir to wear finely-cut suits and other formal wear for the first time in his career. Hence Kabali is designed as a gangster flick with the cool quotient raised higher than in any Rajnikanth starrer.”

More money has been spent on the Thalaiva’s wardrobe in Kabali than in any other film.

The other pre-condition while conceiving the project was to ensure the plot remains focused on  the hero.

“Rajni Sir’s fans do not enjoy watching too much footage being devoted to other character.Even his co-starRadhika Apte has much less to do this time than Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Shetty in Rajni Sir’s last filmLinga,” says the source.

Kabali is all set to get the biggest ever release  for a Rajnikanth film on May 27.
