Rameka Sen Or Indira Gandhi? Raveena Tandon Speaks On Playing India’s Prime Minister

Is Raveena Tandon playing the mighty Indira Gandhi in the sequel to KGF?

Well, yes and no. Raveena plays India’s prime minister. And as we all know there has been only one woman helming the nation. However the film’s makers are not going to reveal Raveena’s character to be the one and only, Mrs G.

Why should they? Has anyone forgotten what Gulzar had to go through to release Aandhi during Gandhi regime’s dreaded Emergency? The film was banned as it unambiguously showed Mrs G’s broken marriage caused by her political ambitions.

Says Raveena, “Yes , I am playing the Prime Minister in the KGF sequel. But my character has nothing to do with Mrs Indira Gandhi.I play a steelwilled prime minister named Ramika Sen.You can draw your own conclusions .Ramika is gritty and gutsy and she walks the talk. I loved her the minute I was told about her. Plus, there is the added incentive of working with a really dedicated and sincere team. Yash , the male lead of KGF and Prabhas of Baahubali are the two most humble superstars I’ve met.”

This won’t be the first time that Raveena will play a female politician with shades of grey. “That’s right. I was the chief minister in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Satta 16 years ago.I am now being promoted to prime minister.”

The ravishing Raveena Tandon was last seen in Onir’s underrated Shabb where she played a bored married socialite who strays into an affair with much younger man.

“That was an entirely new territory for me.I’ve always shied away from all roles that required physical intimacy. Even in Shabb there was no explicit moments. It’s time for me to explore new territory,” says Raveena.
