Was Ranbir Kapoor inspired by Deepika Padukone when he made Rana Daggubati do the lungi dance at SIIMA?

Three years ago Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey surprised the audience at Tampa Bay in Floride when he donned a lungi on stage and danced to the beats of the popular song Lungi Dance, from Chennai Express, along with Deepika Padukone, at the insistence of hosts Shahid Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar.

It was during the IIFA ceremony when Spacey did the lungi dance with Deepika and Shahid and became a memorable night for the audience to remember.

And now at the SIIMA awards in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, July1, 2017, Deepika’s ex Ranbir Kapoor wore the lungi and did the lungi dance too. Not just that he made Baahubali actor Rana Daggubati and Madhavan wear the lungi and dance to it too! Katrina Kaif who was accompanying Ranbir to SIIMA  for the promotion of their next film Jagga Jasoos, played spoilsport and refused to don the lungi. Was it because of the long, intricate gown she wore at SIIMA or that a certain Deepika (whom Katrina has never made any bones about being cordial with) had made the song famous earlier in Chennai Express?

We can never know the truth.
