Ranveer-Deepika Fiercely Competitive Professionals Fought For Top Billing

They are supposedly a couple in  real life, though yet to come out in the  open about their relationship. As professionals,Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are fiercely competitive, at least as far as Padmaavat in concerned.

When it came to the billing  in the  credit titles,  both Ranveer and Deepika wanted their names to appear first.And sinceShahid Kapoor started his career long before both he though his name should appear before both.

At his wit’s end, Sanjay Bhansali sorted the credits crisis by clubbing all the three lead actors’ names together in one  frame.

Having been gagged by their producers Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and  director Sanjay Leela Bhansali from speaking before release the two actors have now set in motion their respective PR machinery to make optimum post-release impact.

A source  close  to the development informs, “Deepika’s PR team  is in direct confrontation with Ranveer’s well-oiled machinery.So if Deepika speaks about the congratulatory flowers sent to her by Ranbir Kapoor’s parents—the flowers were sent to Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ranveer Singh as well, though they didn’t speak about it—Ranveer  gives interviews on how scared the children got when they saw him in the Khilji makeup.If Deepika is clicked eating a Rajasthani thali, Ranveeris clicked dancing with specially abled  children.”

Says the source, “Both Deepika and Ranveer are pros at self-promotion.During Piku Deepika did her darndest to steal the limelight  from Mr Bachchan.During  the release of Befikre Ranveer did his own PR separate  from Yash Raj. This time forPadmaavat they’ve decided to go all out. They’ve both instructed their marketing team to pitch them as the  star attraction ofPadmaavat.”

 The  source says  both the stars have their own game-plan. “While Deepika is  playing the female-hero/title role card. Ranveerwants  to be pitched as  the most popular villain of Indian cinema alongside Amjad Khan’s Gabbar Singh and Amrish Puri’sMogambo.All kinds of  references  including rock ‘n’ roll icon  Jim Morrison are being tossed around  in his interviews. None of this  is  really true. But who cares? Both Deepika and Ranveer are competing neck-to-neck to prove who’s the bigger attraction in Padmaavat.”

A  very amused  very close friend  of the couple says, “It’s  healthy to see Ranveer and Deepika competing  for attention .But they forget.The real star  of  Padmaavat is  Sanjay Leela Bhansali.”
