Ranveer-Deepika Rift? No Problem For Padmavati!

As the speculation on the current status of Deepika Padukone’s affections for the ever-effervescent Ranveer Singh gambols from ‘cold’ to ‘lukwarm’ to ‘normal’, one person who has the maximum reason to worry is the least worried.

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela  Bhansali whose costliest historical extravaganza Rani Padmavati features the blow-hot-blow-cold real-life couple , is not the least worried.

Any other filmmaker would be traumatized if his lead pair were to fall out before or during shooting.K Asif’s Mughal-e-Azam took 7 years to complete after Dilip Kumar and Madhubala fell out. When director KamalAmrohi divorced Meena Kumari Pakeezah  was delayed for nearly 15 years.  More recently Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor called off their relationship on the eve of the release Jab We Met. Imtiaz Ali bit his nails as the now-separated couple  smiled and shot a song ….jab they split.

However this current split rumours spins a different saga for the couple’s proposed opus.

Says a source close to the project, “Ranveer and Deepika personal equation makes no difference to Rani Padmavati. Because RANVEER AND DEEPIKA DO NOT HAVE A SINGLE SCENE TOGETHER IN THE SCRIPT. It’s film where Ranveer plays a hankering suitor, Allauddin Khliji who dared to covet a Rajasthani King’s beautiful and revered wife.As per the script Deepika and Ranveer’s character never meet. Their relationship is about longing and not fulfillment and completion.”

The source says  SLB would like to see a space created between the couple throughout the film. “Ranveer remains distanced from Deepika. All her scenes are with Shahid Kapoor who plays her husband. Ranveer is like Raavan in the Ramayan except that he  never gets to kidnap his object of adoration, no matter how much he wants her.”

It is interesting to see how much love has blossomed  on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s sets.When he shot his first film Khamoshi: The Musical  Nana Patekar fell in love with Manisha Koirala who  played his daughter. While SLB  was shooting Hum….Dil  De Chuke Sanam, Salman Khan fell in love with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. During Saawariya Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor came  close. And it was during the shooting of  Goliyon Ki RaasLeela Raamlila that Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone allegedly began a relationship.

“So much love in my cinema and on my sets. But none in my own life,” jokes Bhansali mirthlessly.
