Red Velvet’s Joy will reportedly return to romance K-drama through the upcoming series One-Of-A-Kind Romance.
On September 30, media outlets reported that Joy has been chosen as the female lead of the upcoming webtoon-based K-drama, One-of-a-Kind Romance. According to reports, she will team up with actor Kim Hyun Jin, who has also received the offer to lead the series.
This will possibly be Joy’s second upcoming K-drama. She will also lead the upcoming series The Year We Turned 29 alongside actress Kim Hye Yoon.
Joy’s last acting project was in 2022 through the K-drama Once Upon a Small Town. She led the series with Choo Young Woo, Baek Sung Chul, Jung Suk Yong, Roh Jae Won, and Park Ye Ni.
After connecting with fans through her recent solo mini-album, “From JOY, with Love,” Joy is now prepared to transition back to acting for the first time in almost six years.
Joy started her acting career in 2017. She has starred in the K-dramas The Liar and His Lover, Tempted, The One and Only, and more.
One-of-a-Kind Romance will showcase the journey of an ordinary job seeker whose normal life is invaded by a top actor and an idol. The story will be depicted from the webtoon of the same name by Du Bu.
Director Kim Jin Young (Flower Grandpa Investigation Unit and Soonpoong Clinic) and writer Choi Ji Yeon (Devilish Joy and Thumping Spike) will work together for the upcoming K-drama.
Kim Hyun Jin got the offer to play the role of Tak Mu I, a top star who began his career as a child actor.
Meanwhile, Joy received the offer to star as Kong Yu Il, an ordinary job seeker who dreams of becoming a writer. While preparing for this, she decided to work as a part-timer at a convenience store.
Their romance will begin when the top star mistakes the ordinary job seeker for his stalker after seeing her working as a part-timer at a convenience store. Despite his doubts, he will try to get closer to her.
