‘RHOP’ Star Pays Tribute to Roberta Flack With Rendition of Iconic Song

“The Real Housewives of Potomac” star Ashley Darby is flexing her vocal skills.
During an April 3 appearance on Fox 5 Washington DC, she paid homage to the late Roberta Flack, who died on February 24, by singing “Killing Me Softly” live with a band.
After her set, Ashley said, “I love singing. It’s always been a passion of mine, and now I’m just pursuing it hardcore.”
Ashley, who was also there to promote her appearance at Mr. Henry’s in D.C. on April 5, opened up about what her two sons’ support for her music career meant to her.
Dean and Michael Darby were present during their mother’s performance, and Ashley said, “They probably already know the whole song because every song that I sing, they learn.”
“So for them to see me doing something that I love, I’m hoping that they really feel inspired to pursue their dreams too,” the reality star told Fox 5.
Ashley reflected on Flack being discovered at Mr. Henry’s and gushed, “It’s so iconic, and it’s just a legendary point for musicians in the D.C. area, period.”
“To know that I can pay homage to her, that I can even be a part of her legacy in any way, in any capacity, is just so rewarding for me,” the “RHOP” star shared.
Ashley Darby Debuted Her First Song in 2018
Ashley’s first song, “Coffee and Love,” which she debuted in 2018, was dedicated to her then-husband, Michael Darby.
“Wooooo we have been cooking something great in the kitchen! ‘Coffee and Love’ is the rump shaking, marriage making anthem! ‘Coffee and Love’ taste best when hot,” she shared on Instagram in July 2018.
“I love thinking of how much my marriage can blossom when Michael and I are on the same page, loving each other and tackling life’s problems together. That’s the greatest motivator for me, knowing the potential of what we can achieve,” she told Bravo that year.
The mom of two continued, “Creating ‘Coffee and Love’ for Michael meant so much to me. My brother Zach and I have always shared a love for music and he’s a talented performer, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to show Michael his importance to me.”
Ashley Came out With a New Anthem Since Her Divorce
After Ashley separated from Michael in 2022, the “RHOP” star sang a few bars of her new single “Healing and Thriving,” during season 8.
The following season, Ashley sang the song during a GnA event after a public workout session, as shared by Bravo.
“I’m very excited about ‘Healing and Thriving.’ I really love music, and I wanted to pursue a music career a few years ago,” Ashley told Decider in November 2024.
She continued, “Then I decided that motherhood was where I wanted to put my attention rather than trying to balance both of those things.”
“I thought ‘Healing and Thriving’ was just an upbeat song, but a couple people suggested that I make it into an EDM. So I went back into the studio, put a little oomph in it, and now it is a fist banger,” Ashley declared.
