Two big major  films, two very separate experiences. So there is no either-or situation here. While both Mohenjo Daro and Rustom go back in time, one dates back to 5,000 years  and other to the year 1959.While Mohenjo Daro is a trueblue costume drama Rustom is more about the drama and less about the costumes.

The two films star the superstars Hrithik Roshan and Akshay Kumar. Hrithik has not been seen by his fans  for more than a year. And his last film Bang Bang was not quite the experience it was meant to be.Akshay Kumar this year did two extremely antithetical  Airlift and Housefull 3. Rustom falls into the ‘Airlift’ category of Akshay’s cinema.

Rustom is about infidelity and revenge. Hrithik has been there done it in Anurag Basu’s Kites. The film didn’t do well.Maybe because he was shown to run away with another man’s girl. This is not the first time that Akshayhas played the cuckolded husband. He played the cheated husband in Dharmesh Darshan’s Dhadkan, a Rams who took his wife’s infidelity quietly. In Rustom Akshay kills his wife’s lover.

Rustom is based on a true story. The actual case of K M Nanavati who killed his wife’s lover shook Mumbai in 1959. To play a Parsi man convincingly Akshay took tips from his loyal and long-lasting assistant Zenobia who isParsi. To play the man from the Indus Valley civilization Hrithik had no reference points .Only his imagination.

While shooting Mohenjo Daro Hrithik underwent immense personal turmoil and health problems.Akshay while playing a cheated husband in Rustom remained a happy family man .Who performs better? An actor under stress? Or the one who’s at peace with himself? Find out this week.
