Ryu Seung Ryong's new K-drama 'The Story of Manager Kim' gears up for release

Ryu Seung Ryong‘s JTBC drama The Story of Manager Kim, Who Works for a Large Company in Seoul (literal title) is gearing up for release.

The Story of Manager Kim, Who Works for a Large Company in Seoul tells the story of a middle-aged man who, after losing everything he valued, discovers his true self — not as a manager at a large corporation, but as his genuine self — following a long journey.

Actor Ryu Seung Ryong (MovingKingdom), who has moved and amused audiences across various genres in both films and dramas, takes on the role of Kim Nak Su, a veteran salesman with 25 years of experience under his belt. Kim Nak Su holds the respectable position of manager of Sales Team 1 at a major corporation, owns a home in a prime area of Seoul, and lives a peaceful life with his family. However, as time passes, he gradually begins to lose his footing both at his home and workplace.

As curiosity grows over whether Kim Nak Su can successfully overcome the first hurdle he has ever faced in his life, a glimpse into 24 hours of manager Kim has been revealed. After arriving at the office, he enjoys a cup of coffee while talking to his juniors. His relaxed smile reflects the confidence of a corporate manager.

However, in contrast to his demeanor around his juniors, his dark expression in front of his superiors is also captured, revealing his struggles. Despite his title as the manager, the first red light in his otherwise “no-regret” life has turned on, leaving viewers wondering whether Kim Nak Su can navigate the crisis.

Meanwhile, a glimpse of Kim spending happy time with his family after work have also been captured. His relaxed expression as he looks at his beloved family betrays the image of a typical father.

As such, The Story of Manager Kim, Who Works for a Large Company in Seoul depicts the struggles of a man who, despite having a home, a family, and the prestige of being a manager, struggles to protect what he has built. Based on the novel of the same name, which garnered 10 million views and sold 300,000 copies, the drama promises a realistic story that will resonate with audiences across all generations.

The Story of Manager Kim, Who Works for a Large Company in Seoul is set to premiere in October. The K-drama will be streaming on Netflix.
