There seems to be no end to the troubles for Mahesh Bhatt’s Sadak 2 . After the boycott banshee blaring across the social media, the film is now in the midst of a plagiarism controversy with a Pakistani musician claiming one of the songs in Sadak 2 is copied.
Wrote Pakistan’s music producer Shezaan Saleem. “A trailer for a Bollywood movie called Sadak 2 has just been released, and there is a song in it called Ishq Kamaal,” he can be heard saying. “After listening to it, I realised that it sounds like a composition I had produced for a friend around 11 years ago. The friend’s name is Zaid Khan. I think they’ve copied it because not only the melody but the music is also very similar.”
I touched base with Sadak producer Pooja Bhatt and she said, “If you hear the two songs it’s quite clear that our song is not anything like the other song.”
Sadak 2 composer Suniljit also reverted with a terse but unambiguous response. “Hear my song. You will have the answer to your question.”
