Sam Asghari Opens Up About Life After Britney Spears Divorce: ‘Proud of Her’

Sam Asghari isn’t holding back anymore. The actor and fitness coach recently sat down with Page Six Radio and peeled back the curtain on life during, and after, his whirlwind marriage to Britney Spears. The actor made it quite clear that despite the public divorce, there is no bad blood.
“I can’t sit here and lie and say, ‘It wasn’t good for me,’” Asghari admitted during the candid chat. “When you’re in such a public relationship, that gives you that platform — it sort of gave me that platform for who I am.”
It was an honest take from the 31-year-old who met the pop icon on the set of her 2016 “Slumber Party” music video. He played the singer’s love interest, with the rest being history. Their on-set chemistry turned into a real-life relationship that would last nearly seven years.
Despite the craze of dating a global superstar, Asghari revealed the flip side of fame. He stated that he tried every day to be taken seriously in Hollywood while being known as “Britney’s husband.”
“Did it make me, you know, have to work harder to prove myself? Absolutely,” he shared. At the time, Asghari was juggling gigs as a personal trainer and waiter until he suddenly found himself caught in the limelight due to his relationship.
It’s not an uncommon Hollywood story, being loved by the public but underestimated by the industry. But for Asghari, it became motivation. “I just started acting at that moment, so I was already doing stuff anyway,” he pointed out.
He went on to guest-star on shows like “Black Monday” and “Hacks.” To this day, he has been steadily building a resume and reputation of his own for his talent and hard work.
From ‘Happily Ever After’ to ‘Moving On With Intention’
Asghari and Spears tied the knot in June 2022 in front of a small crowd filled with family and friends. But the fairy tale unraveled less than two years later, with their divorce finalizing in May 2024. Despite the media’s speculation, the relationship ended without drama.
While the split surprised fans, Asghari remained gracious in the aftermath, praising Spears for their time together. When asked about Spears’ memoir, “The Woman in Me,” in which she calls him a “gift from God,” he told a a source, “That made me smile, to be honest. I’m freakin’ proud of her, and I hope she takes over the world.”
Now, with the past behind him, Asghari is moving forward with projects on the horizon and a new narrative of his own.
Spears’ Busy Era
As for Britney? The “Stronger” singer isn’t missing a beat. Spears recently made headlines after partnering with Balenciaga for a special collection release. The partnership included limited edition merch as well as a special curated playlist created by the “Crazy” singer herself. The brand released a total of 12 pieces as part of their “Exactitudes” Spring 2026 campaign.
She’s also been open about her new single status. In a cheeky Instagram post back in October 2024, Spears confirmed she’s officially solo. Wearing a white wedding dress and a veil, she wrote, “The day I married myself … Bringing it back because it might seem embarrassing or stupid, but I think it’s the most brilliant thing I’ve ever done !!!” It’s a full-circle moment for the 43-year-old, who’s traded tabloid drama for entrepreneurial glow and convertible rides with her sons.
So, while both Spears and Asghari have closed the chapter on their whirlwind romance, neither is slowing down. If anything, they’re just getting started on their own terms.
