Sanjay Dutt will star in an emotional father-daughter film inspired by Kabulliwala the immortal Rabindranath Tagore story of the same name.
The film is being produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
They’ve earlier teamed up for two of Chopra’s directorial ventures Mission: Kashmir and Eklavya and have been very closely associated over the Munnabhai series which Chopra produces.
Chopra, it must be remembered , has not directed a film since Eklavya in 2007.
The temptation to do something with Dutt was really strong this time.
Says a source, “It’s a very emotional father-daughter story with shades of Sanjay Dutt’s own relationship with his daughter Trishala. Vinod Chopra wants to tell this story as a homage to the emotional side of Dutt’s personality.”
Interestingly the role of the Kabulliwala has been immortalized by Balraj Sahni in the 1961 film of the same name directed by Hemen Gupta.Danny Denzongpa is currently shooting film based on the same Tagore story.
