Sean Hayes shares backstage photos of all the celebrity pals who have seen his show in London

If you don’t follow him on social media, you may be unaware that actor Sean Hayes has spent the summer in London.

Hayes won a Tony Award in 2023 for his performance as Oscar Levant in the biographical play, Goodnight, Oscar.

For the past couple of months, the play has been running at London’s Barbican theatre. Hayes decamped to the UK capital along with his husband, Scott Icenogle.

During the course of the run, the former Will & Grace star has shared photos of celebrities who have seen the play and slipped backstage to say hello.

This included some fellow gay stars such as Ian McKellen, Victor Garber and Tramell Tillman.

Then there were legends such as Judi Dench and David Letterman.

Further A-listers included Eddie Redmayne and Antonio Banderas.

Others that Hayes has featured on his Instagram include Daisy Ridley, Tom Bateman, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Richard Curtis, Jack Quaid, Simon Pegg and Meg Ryan.

Another person to praise the show was Ellen DeGeneres.

The former chat show queen, who now resides in the UK, posted photos of herself with Hayes over the weekend in his dressing room.

“Went to see @SeanHayes in Good Night Oscar,” DeGeneres said. “Brilliant play. Amazing performances. Sean is pure genius and he taught me to play piano.”

“Another unforgettable life adventure”

Hayes’ husband, Icenogle, is an award-winning composer and music producer for TV and film. In fact, DeGeneres played a role in the men meeting each other.

“Scotty used to be the DJ on the Ellen DeGeneres talk show, and I spoke to Ellen, and I was like, ‘Oh, he’s cute and nice and seems funny,’ ” Hayes told People in 2018.

In 2014, Hayes revealed he and Icenogle wed after meeting eight years previously.

Goodnight, Oscar ended its London run over the weekend. Hayes posted a photo of himself and Icenogle to mark the occasion.

“Another unforgettable life adventure together thanks to an Incredible summer in London. 🇬🇧”
