Shabana Azmi Lavishes High Praise On Alia

Shaandaar apart, Alia Bhatt continues her unbroken streak  of  success at the  boxoffice. Her new film  Gauri Shinde’s Dear Zindagi has amassed a total of  total of approximately Rs 38 crore rupees over the weekend , making this potentially one of the most successful films of 2016.

This would be Alia Bhatt’s 7th hit. From the time she made her debut as a leading lady in Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year in 2012 Alia’s career has been on a vertiginous upswing. Today her  success among her contemporaries is  unparalleled .

Says a leading trade expert (who wishes not to be named as he doesn’t want to offend Alia’s contemporaries), “Alia’s contemporaries Shradha Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, KritiSanon, etc have been left far behind by Alia. She has almost a cent-percent success ratio with all her films barring Shaandaar being profit earners. She is definitely on the way to becoming the next no.1 female star after Deepika Padukone.”

The mighty Shabana Azmi who has watched Alia’s growth says she saw this success coming in Alia’s career. “I am  so proud of her.Alia was 3 when it was evident that she would be an actor. She seemed to the manner born! When I  first saw her stills of Student Of The Year I told her mother  Soni Razdan that Alia projects an interesting mix of confidence and vulnerability that will take her far.But her emotional depth at 23 is astonishing. That scene in Kapoor And Sons where she speaks about her parents….Or  her performance in Highway.I  was surprised by her in Udta Punjab. How could she play a character so alien to her upbringing with such conviction?  Now she’s wow in  DearZindagi. Javed can’t stop talking about her performance . More power to her.”
