Shabana Azmi never ceases to surprise. On the eve of her 66th birthday she has sung two songs for AparnaSen’s new film Sonata.
The songs were recorded on Monday and Shabana breathed a sigh of relief when it turned out well.
“I don’t consider myself a singer at all. Normally I wouldn’t dare take my singing skills beyond the bathroom . But friends seem to think I can pull off a tune.I’ve done it earlier for Muzaffar Ali in Anjuman and for ShyamBenegal in Mandi. But this was a bigger challenge. This is Rabindra Sangeet. And you can’t afford to slip up,” says Shabana.
Shabana had been training for the songs for two weeks now.
Luckily the recording went well enough.
She is now shooting for Aparna Sen’s Sonata and for a serial Amma simultaneously.
