Shatrughan Sinha Brings Play To Home Town For The First Time

The redoubtable Shatrughan Sinha  is all set to bring his enduringly popular play  Pati Patni Aur Main to Patna..for the first time!

Laughing heartily at the irony Shatrughan Sinha says, “Can you believe it? I have been performing this play for  16 years and not once in Patna. It feels good to finally bring my theatrical thunder into my own town.”

Over several  years the satirical play directed by Ramesh Talwar  has been performed in various parts of the world , to a rousing reception.

Says Shatruji, “I had enjoyed performing  the play in 2001 and then my carious commitments kept me off the stage . I had enjoyed my brief stint on stage. And I had hoped to be back . But somehow because of  my various political and film commitments I never got around to it. In 2015 on 19 January a day after my son’s marriage I returned to stage .When there was much to celebrate in the family I felt it was time for me to re-invent myself.”

Apparently Shatruji’s daughter Sonakshi convinced him to return to stage.

“It’s tough. The two mediums of cinema and theatre are very different from one another. But I am up to it,” ends the parliamentarian –actor famous for his oratorial skills.

Says the actor-politician enthusiastically, “It felt good to perform my play in Patna, Nitish Kumarji attended the show.  Pati Patni Aur Main has  naughty lines but no dirty humour. It is a wholesome play and we keep it updated. References to the censor board and all its controversies have now been added to the play.So we’re constantly re-inventing  the play. We hope it will have a longer life than any Indian play staged across the world.”
