Like all right-minded Indians, Shatrughan Sinha is appalled at the violence perpetrated on hapless cattle custodians by self-appointed livestock vigilantes.
“This is a very very disturbing and frightening trend. This lack of tolerance towards anyone you suspect—mind you, only SUSPECT—of insulting your religion,” says the BJP’s most objective voice, now disturbed by the growing militancy in the Hindu religion.
Says Shatruji, “By all means ,if those transporting or dealing with cattle don’t have the proper licence to do so then let the law take its course. No one has the right to take the law in their own hands. And to my horror I heard that the man who was killed in Alwar had the proper papers to deal in livestock. This is vigilantism at its worst. It must stop.”
Shatruji agrees the gau rakshaks are beyond anyone’s control. “They are acting on their own. No member of the Bharatiya Janta Party approves of their self-appointed cow-preservation tactics or endorses their lawless conduct. These voluntary cattle preservers must be stopped.”
Reacting to a state minister’s statement , ‘Ghalti donon taraf se hui hai” Shatruji quipped, “Just because you are a minister it doesn’t mean you’re educated enough to comment sensibly on topical issues.”
