Shatrughan Sinha is in a state of shock over the honourable Supreme Court’s decision to take legal action against his guru and mentor L K Advani for the demolition of the Babri Masjid.
Says Shatruji, “As a faithful party worker and one of the staunchest supporters of Advaniji I take strong exception to the fact that very few of the leaders from within our party has spoken up in his support. Advaniji is not just a stalwart of the BJP. He has given his life to the country. He is statesman and leader of national stature respected by all regardless of party lines and political allegiances.”
Not to say that a man of Advani’s stature must be immune to the processes of the law.
“Not at all!” reiterates Shatruji. “I am not saying, spare him. With due respect to the processes of the law and legal system, I am saying don’t pre-judge him. On what basis is Kalyan Singh being given immunity ? Because he held a state position when the incident happened? So does that make him the first among equals ? Is this what a man of Advaniji’s seniority and stature deserves at this age?Advanji has given his life to the country. He never thought about himself. He always put nation before his family . Is this how we repay him for his sacrifices?”
When asked about the other BJP colleagues who will be tried by the Supreme Court for the demolition of theBabri Masjid, Shatrughan Sinha quipped, “The others can look after themselves.Advaniji is my concern. He should be the entire BJP’s concern.”
