On August 23, tvN’s Amazing Saturday released a video of Key on its official social media, writing, “Breaking news mid-recording! The moment Key’s ‘Hunter’ took first place, and his tears flowed. ‘Amazing Saturday’ is revealing it three weeks early.”
The clip shows Key checking his phone quietly during recording before suddenly covering his mouth in shock. Sitting beside him, Taeyeon brushed it off at first, saying, “You scared me,” but Boom immediately asked, “Key, what’s wrong?”
That’s when Key broke down, saying through tears: “I got first place.” Taeyeon quickly relayed to the rest of the cast, “Key won first place on a music show!” The studio instantly erupted with applause and cheers, with castmates shouting “Congratulations!” and “That’s amazing!”
Key recently released his third full-length album HUNTER on August 11. However, due to filming commitments for Amazing Saturday, he couldn’t attend KBS 2TV’s Music Bank live broadcast on August 22. His stage was instead pre-recorded, meaning he missed the live moment of his win.
Still, Key savored the joy on set, admitting with a smile: “I found out by secretly checking my phone. Sorry, but I couldn’t help it.”
Fans will be able to watch the full heartfelt moment — including his tearful acceptance reaction — on the September 13 broadcast of Amazing Saturday at 7:40 p.m. KST.
