Shocking: No Housefull Signs On Eid For Tubelight ?

The Mumbai film industry is reeling with shock. Kabir Khan’s Tubelight is the first Salman-Eid release that did not show Houusefull boards across the country on the day of Eid.

A representative of a  leading multiplex chain says, “We added  a show of Baahubali on Monday (Eid) at the last minute. It went full. Not one show of Tubelight at  our  multiplex chain recorded capacity audiences. For last year’s Eid release Sultan , we had to add shows on Eid day to accommodate the crowds.”

Trade analysts say this is Salman’s weakest  film in years.

Says Amod Mehra, “There was talk in the industry whether Tubelight will cross Bahubali 2 collections.Now all are worried as to whether the film  will  even break even.Such an  unpredictable turn of events !!”

However Atul Mohan feels there is no  need for alarm “Tubelight has done decently well. We shouldn’t be trying to compare Tubelight with recent Salman films and their business as Tubelight is a different film and not a typical Salman Khan commercial potboiler.”

Atul feels the negative reviews may have affected Tubelight’s Eid collections. “The film got not so encouraging reviews which might have slightly affected the film but family audiences are liking it. The only concern is the price at which the film is sold.”

Atul applauds Salman for doing something different. “As an actor one has to keep discovering self with different challenges. The collections of Sunday were better than first two days. But on Eid the collections were not satisfactory. Let’s expect bigger numbers. The real test begins from Wednesday.”

Comments film critic Raja Sen, “Tubelight has earned okay by most measures, but considering it is a Salman Khan Eid release, it has significantly come a cropper. Beaten by the Allu Arun Telugu release DJ from the South, it showed low occupancy on Friday and could barely pick up over the weekend. The producers are safe with pre-release deals, but the widest release Hindi film of all time has certainly not matched up to commercial expectations.”

In the meanwhile the superstar at the vortex of the Eid releases is unfazed.

Says Salman’s brother Sohail, “Bhai would be worried if his fans felt let down. He is genuinely concerned about the ticket paying audience which spends its hard-earned money to watch his films. He doesn’t want them to feel let down.”

But the disturbing feedback from the Salmaniacs is that they have rejected Tubelight.
