Shyam Benegal’s committee for censorship reforms has come up with recommendations to scrap all censor cuts and to implement four categories of (uncut) certification including “Adult With Caution’, which would indicate cinema to be approached cautiously by even adults.
However Pahlaj Nihalani ,the chairperson of the Censor Board Of Film Certification(CBFC) says he has not received a copy of the suggested reforms nor is the censor board liable to implement the changes suggested byBenegal.
“The suggestions of Mr Benegal’s committee will now be discussed in the winter session of Parliament. In fact they have already been tabled for discussion in the winter session. Only when the Parliament approves and passes Mr Benegal’s recommendation would the CBFC be asked to implement them. At the moment we at the CBFC are not obliged to consider Mr Benegal’s suggestions, wise as they may be,” says Pahlaj Nihalani.
