Rachel Zegler talks about calling Pedro Pascal ‘dad’
During the opening night of Evita on London’s West End, Rachel Zegler reflected on why she affectionately calls Pedro Pascal “Dad.”
In a conversation with Hits Radio UK, she reflected on the touching way Pascal showed up to support her big stage moment. She shared that Pascal had shown up to support her debut in the musical and cheered her on from the audience with so much enthusiasm that she immediately noticed him during the performance.
Zegler said, “One thing about my daddy Pedro, he goes to bat for me in a way that I love so dearly. But he was standing after every number.” She further added, “During ‘Rainbow High,’ he was like [claps above her head], like in the middle of the song, and that’s when I spotted him for the first time, and I was like ‘Dad!’ But he’s the best.” Zegler described their friendship as sincere and supportive.
This isn’t the first time Pascal has publicly shown his support for Zegler. Pascal has been one of her most vocal supporters, especially during challenging moments. When controversy surrounded Disney’s upcoming live-action Snow White remake, Pascal defended her through social media. He called her an “icon” in an Instagram story. His message came amid a wave of online criticism.
Zegler’s run as Eva Perón in Evita will continue through a 12-week engagement at The London Palladium from July 1 to September 6. At the same time, Zegler is preparing for her next film, She Gets It From Me.
