Song Ji Hyo to return to the big screen after five years through 'Home behind Bars'

Song Ji Hyo is returning to the film industry after five years. 

On September 17, it was officially confirmed that the upcoming film Home behind Bars, led by Song Ji Hyo, will hit theaters on October 15. The official poster of the film was also revealed. 

Home behind Bars will tell the story of a female correctional officer of 15 years who will meet the daughter of an inmate she is supervising.

The upcoming film will be the directorial debut of director Cha Jung Yoon. 

Song Ji Hyo will portray the role of Tae Jeo. She has worked as a correctional officer for 15 years at the women’s prison. She is best known for being strict and having no favoritism, but after meeting the inmate’s daughter named Jun Young, she began to change. 

The character of Jun Young will be portrayed by child actress Do Yeong Seo, who will bring the inmate’s daughter to life. Meanwhile, actress Ok Ji Young will portray the role of Mi Young, the mother of Jun Young, and also an inmate in the women’s prison.

Home Behind Bars will be available in Korean theaters starting on October 15. 

Song Ji Hyo’s last film was Intruder, which premiered in 2020. She worked alongside Kim Mu Yeol, Ye Soo Jung, Choi Sang Hoon, Park Min Ha, and  Heo Jun Seok in the thriller mystery film.

Just recently, Song Ji Hyo made her grand comeback to the small screen through Confidence Queen. She made a cameo appearance in the series and worked with main leads Park Min Young, Joo Jong Hyuk, Park Hee Soon, and Hyun Bong Sik

She is currently active as a regular member of the longest-running variety program in South Korea, Running Man

The actress also recently ventured into business, and she is currently the owner of the underwear brand Nina.Ssong.
