Actor Song Kang has officially finished his mandatory military service.
On October 1, Song Kang has finally completed his 18th month of service and will officially return from being a soldier to an actor.
Song Kang started his mandatory military service as an active duty soldier in April 2024.
He enlisted as an active-duty soldier in April last year. Song Kang maintained public visibility throughout his service, appearing in a Defense Help Call promotional video for the Ministry of National Defense. His time in the military also made headlines when photos of him alongside fellow soldier BTS V were revealed.
Song Kang started his acting career in 2017 through the tvN K-drama The Liar and His Lover with Lee Hyun Woo, Red Velvet’s Joy, Lee Jung Jin, Lee Seo Won, Hong Seo Young, and Kim Sung Joo.
Song Kang secured his first main role in 2019 with the Netflix K-drama Love Alarm. His consistent work with the platform led to the title “Son of Netflix.” He achieved global recognition for leading the three seasons of the hit series Sweet Home, where he acted with Lee Jin Wook, Lee Do Hyun, Lee Si Young, Go Min Si, and more.
Even while Song Kang was in the military, he still graced his presence with the special appearance in the film Escape led by Lee Je Hoon, Koo Kyo Hwan, Hong Xa Bin, Seo Hyeon Woo, Lee Sung Wook, and Yoo Tae Joo.

Even before his military discharge, Song Kang had already received several project offers for his return to the industry.
Last June, media outlets reported that Song Kang’s comeback K-drama will reportedly be Four Hands, which will be helmed by director Park Hyun Suk (Song of the Bandits, Stranger Season 2, and Uncontrollably Fond).
Meanwhile, Song Kang has not announced which project will mark his official comeback.
