Sons of Anarchy Reboot: Everything Revealed By the Cast So Far

Rumors have started to swirl, and speculation is mounting among fans about a potential “Sons of Anarchy” reboot. Created by Kurt Sutter, the series originally aired from 2008 to 2014 and followed the criminal exploits of an outlaw motorcycle club in a fictional California town.

After seven acclaimed seasons, the show concluded with a dramatic finale and later inspired the spinoff, “Mayans M.C.” Now, comments from cast members are fueling discussions about a possible return and it is generating significant buzz. Here’s what we know so far about these intriguing developments.

Theo Rossi Hints at ‘Something Coming Up’ For the ‘Sons of Anarchy’ Cast

During a recent panel for the movie Emily the Criminal, star Theo Rossi—who portrayed hacker and intelligence officer Juice Ortiz on SOA—was asked about a possible reboot or spinoff.

“There might be something coming up where we’re all back together, which is insane… If it happens, it’s wild, but if it doesn’t, it would be perfect and really cool because we also talk every day,” Rossi revealed.

This cryptic statement, first reported by Deadline, suggested a new project could reunite him with co-stars, including Charlie Hunnam. However, both Juice and Hunnam’s Jax Teller met tragic ends in the original series, raising questions about how such a reunion could occur.

Charlie Hunnam Teases a Potential Return

Hunnam’s Jax Teller was the heart of “Sons of Anarchy,” but he appeared to die in the series finale. Fans will never forget when he rode his motorcycle into an oncoming semi-trailer as a sacrificial act reminiscent of Hamlet. This connection was even emphasized with a Shakespearean quote.

Jax’s death seemed final, but the lack of a body has fueled speculation. Is it possible that he faked it?

A “Sons of Anarchy” spinoff doesn’t necessarily mean a continuation of Jax’s story, though. Another possibility is a sequel series focused on Jax’s sons, Abel and Thomas. This would allow for Jax to appear in flashbacks or in dreams.

At Liverpool Comic Con in 2022, Hunnam actually pitched a different angle for a sequel when he mentioned a project that “doesn’t involve Jax Teller, but does involve me.” He described this fresh narrative at the time as being in the early stages, with “the ingredients just being measured out.”

He also teased a potential return while speaking to Access Hollywood.

“I have an idea that I’m exploring in its infancy where that could be a possibility.

“It would be something that I would be incredibly excited about, so we’re sort of, like I said, in the infancy of exploring the viability of the idea,” he told the outlet.

Charlie Hunnam Is a Busy Guy Post ‘Sons of Anarchy’

Since “Sons of Anarchy” ended more than a decade ago, Hunnam has built a diverse resume in both film and television. He starred in “Crimson Peak” (2015), “The Lost City of Z” (2016), “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword” (2017), and “The Gentlemen” (2019).

He also had supporting roles in “Triple Frontier” (2019) and “Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire” (2023).

Looking ahead, Hunnam recently wrapped filming on season 3 of the Netflix hit, “Monster.” He is also set to lead “Criminal”, an upcoming TV adaptation of Ed Brubaker’s comic series, alongside Emilia Clarke and Luke Evans.

Despite his busy schedule, Hunnam remains tied to “Sons.” He reiterated at Liverpool Comic Con in 2023 that a non-Jax project was in development, but it was still in the very early stages. Fans will just have to wait and see what happens.

All seven seasons of “Sons of Anarchy” are streaming on Hulu.
