There is  a very good reason why  the new stunning-looking Sridevi starrer Mom has been pushed to July.

In July Sridevi completes 50 years in cinema. Mom her 300th film, is being planned as a  commemorative event where all her heroes and directors  from Tamil, Telugu and Hindi cinema would get together to celebrate the magic of  Sridevi, the iconic brand.

Her proud husband Boney Kapoor who produces Mom can’t contain his joy. “Sri is completing 50 years of acting in 2017. She started at the age of 4 in 1967  in a Tamil film called Thunaivan And it’s  now 2017 when  her 300th film Mom is being released.Do you know of any other actor in the world with such longevity? I don’t.”

It’s not just a proud husband talking. Sridevi has indeed broken  all records of sustained stardom in this  cut-throat business where favourites change every Friday.

And  to celebrate her enduring stardom an event is being planned where all her co-stars from Rajinikant  and Kamal Haasan to AnilKapoor and Rishi Kapoor to the French Mehdi Nebbou in  EnglishVinglish and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Mom are expected to be joined by all her directors –or the ones who are still alive—from T RamaRao and  Raghvendra Rao to Gauri Shinde and  Ravi Udyawar.

Nawazuddin  who has just worked with Sridevi for the first time inMom can’t stop raving about her. “Who isn’t a fan of Sridevi? I used to watch  her films from my home town and wonder if she is for real. When I was offered a role in her film in a Mom I didn’t think twice before accepting. Even if I had been asked to do one shot in a film starring Srideviji I would have done it.”

Sridevi herself remains unaffected by all the gushing and adulation. “I’ve never thought about how good I am or how long I’ve been here. I’ve just done  my work from the start to the best of my abilities.I’ve never considered myself special. If  people think I am special then I guess I am blessed.”
