Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Spock Actor Opens Doors for Year One Series

With Star Trek: Strange New Worlds set to conclude its small-screen run with Season 5 potentially in 2027, Ethan Peck, who plays Lieutenant Spock, has shared his thoughts about a possible Year One series. In a recent interview, the 39-year-old actor expressed interest in reprising his Star Trek role for a future project that would center around the early adventures of Captain James T. Kirk.

Ethan Peck says he wants to reprise his Spock role in a Star Trek: Year One series

While speaking with TV Insider, Peck gave his go-ahead to a potential Year One series, stating that he would like to play Spock as long as it is possible.

“I think it would be really wonderful,” he noted. “I will stay playing this character for as long as I’m invited, for the most part, because I just think it’s such an amazing thing to be a part of. The messaging is so incredible, and this character has so much integrity. He’s such a noble person, so I love portraying him,” the actor said while concluding his account.

With Strange New Worlds taking place years before the events of The Original Series, a Star Trek: Year One project would ideally focus on Kirk’s initial escapades as the Captain of the Enterprise.

Peck’s comments about the proposed Year One series come after Paul Wesley, who embodies Captain Kirk in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, shared a similar sentiment in an earlier interview. “It’s not up to me, but I have expressed my desire, probably all too often, to the showrunners and whomever else asks,” he stated, before adding, “I would love nothing more than to do a Kirk series.” Wesley even highlighted the timeline that the Year One series could take place in, noting, “You can explore time between episodes, you can explore time before the first episode [of The Original Series].”

Despite the encouraging statements from Peck and Wesley, Paramount has yet to share an official word on a potential Star Trek: Year One series.
