In a shocking turn of event in the Sushant Singh Rajput case, a mental counsellor Susan Walker Moffat has gone on-record to state that the actor was mentally unwell.
Ms Moffat states, “Sushant was suffering from bipolar disorder, a severe mental illness that can be crippling for an individual during an episode.”
She goes on to give the much-beleaguered Rhea Chakraborty a clean chit stating that Rhea looked after Sushant like a mother.
While the revelations about Sushant’s mental health are nothing new the timing of the disclosure appears highly questionable. At a time when Rhea Chakraborty’s arrest is being loudly whispered about this seems like an attempt to whitewash Rhea’s rapidly demonized image.
Also the dominant narrative on Sushant’s tragic death stresses that he was not mentally disturbed. His family has gone as far as to say that Sushant was fine until his relationship with Rhea . However Ms Moffat’s new revelation puts an entirely new spin on the controversy.
If it is true that Sushant suffered from bipolar illness, as Ms Moffat claims, why is his family not willing to acknowledge the illness? Conversely, is Ms Moffat qualified to comment on Sushant’s mental health? If she is, isn’t this revelation a massive violation of the patient-doctor confidentiality clause?
