Netflix’s first Swedish period drama takes us back to 1958 Stockholm, as women enter the police force for the very first time in a crime-ridden district of Stockholm. Coming to Netflix on October 3, 2025, here’s everything we know about The New Force on Netflix.
The New Force is an upcoming Swedish Netflix Original period drama created by Patrik Ehrnst and Rojda Sekersöz, the latter of whom wrote the script as head writer alongside Elin Randin and Antonia Pyk. Directing duties are split between Julia Lindström and Rojda Sekersöz. The series is produced by Cecilia Forsberg Becker and the Swedish studio Art & Bob with Annika Rogell and Jan Blomgren as executive producers.
When is The New Force coming to Netflix?
Netflix has confirmed that The New Force will premiere on the platform on October 3, 2025.
A trailer has yet to be released for the series.

Netflix has released a synopsis for The New Force:
“The year is 1958, and Sweden’s first female police officers graduate; a small group of pioneers taking a big step for gender equality but struggling to take even the smallest step themselves, as the skirts they’re forced to wear chafe like sandpaper against their thighs. They are ridiculed by the public, belittled by the media, and scorned by their colleagues. The new recruits are placed in the country’s most crime-ridden district; the Klara police district in Stockholm, and as they start patrolling the streets of Stockholm, they soon realize that their biggest problem isn’t the criminals; instead, the resistance comes from colleagues and the society as a whole.”
