It is sad but true that the exceptionally talented Tabu is languishing for the want of challenging roles. She was last seen opposite her good old friend Manoj Bajpai in the psychological thriller Missing but on the whole, this incredible talent has been… well, missing from the screen.
We have seen her intermittently in the films featuring her good friend Ajay Devgan She was a part of the Devgan starrer Drishyam though not as his leading lady.
Devgan and Tabu starred together in one of her first films Vijaypath and have remained close family friends.
And now she is back with Devgan in Akiv Ali’s De De Pyar De. But here again, she is not cast as Devgan’s leading lady. Rakul Preet Singh is.
Someday Indian cinema needs to explain why all heroines must be relegated to character roles after 40 while the hero continues to go great Devgan, errr, guns.
