Techno-wiz kid South director Chakri Toleti to direct slick, stylish, entertainer based on IIFA!

He was also India’s first director to introduce the 4K and 8K video cameras

Like it always has been, the 18th edition of the IIFA Festival will be a grand one boasting of top stars including Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Sushant Singh Rajput with from July 13-15, but for the organizers, Wizcraft (Sabbas Joseph, Andre Timmins and Viraf Sarkari), this year is also something very special. They will also launch Wizcraft’s first film production with a storyline based around the IIFA and some parts of the film will be shot at IIFA, New York during the event. Interestingly, the film is being directed by American-Indian filmmaker Chakri Toleti and will have Wizcraft Director, Viraf Sarkari, as an Associate Director on the film. Sarkari and his partners Andre Timmins and Sabbas Joseph formed one of India’s biggest event management agencies – Wizcraft International. Toleti made his directorial debut with Tamil drama-thriller film Unnaipol Oruvan (2009) starring Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal in the lead roles.

Says a source, “Viraf has produced mega productions and concerts in India and abroad for Wizcraft (the 50 years of Indian Independence, India 2000 Millennium Celebrations, 30 years of Mauritian Independence, Oman Military Festival 2005 and Help Telethon and Concert). He loves to innovate and experiment with new technology platforms for the event management and entertainment industry and one of the reasons why Indian American screenwriter, director, actor, and visual effects coordinator Chakri Toleti was roped in to direct the film. Along with co-producer Ronnie Screwvala, Chakri gave India its first film shot entirely on 4K resolution – the Kamal Haasan-starrer Telugu thriller, Eenadu (the official remake of Neeraj Pandey’s A Wednesday). Chakri is known for his technical skills and is also directing and shooting a trilingual (in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi), which is India’s first 8K-camera film. 8K digital are known to deliver quality and crisp footages and some Hollywood movies are being filmed with such video cameras too since 2013. Viraf wants the best equipments used for the film and someone with sound technical knowledge and Chakri has that.”

After shooting various portions in IIFA, the film starring Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur and Diljit Dosanjh and a host of top stars in cameos, will have a proper shooting schedule post the events.
