Teddi Mellencamp Reaches Major Milestone in Cancer Battle
Teddi Mellencamp finished her final day of radiation on April 3 and got to celebrate in the perfect way.
On her Instagram story, Mellencamp posted a video of herself ringing “the good luck bell,” which marks that her “treatment is done, the course is run, and I’m on my way.”
She rang the bell three times as instructed, while her friends and family cheered in the background, congratulating her on this significant milestone in her cancer battle.
Teddi Mellencamp Opened Up About Her Battle With Stage 4 Cancer in an Interview with Us Weekly
In an interview with Us Weekly published on April 2, Mellencamp made a very emotional statement about her battle with stage 4 cancer.
“I’m fighting for my life,” she told Us Weekly, “But also for my family’s life and all the people I love.”
With that, she referenced a comment she made during her time on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” Whenever she would leave the house at night, Mellencamp would tell her kids, “Moms always come back.” However, she hasn’t been able to say to them since her battle began.
“I have not said that line to them since I’ve been back [from the hospital],” Mellencamp revealed. “They all know that I’m fighting the hardest I possibly can, but I haven’t said (it) because I don’t want to lie to them. And I don’t know.”
However, her family has been beyond supportive, with her son, Cruz, saying that “we can get all the same haircuts,’” referencing how Mellencamp had to shave her head.
And because of her children – daughters Slate, 12, and Dove, 5, and son Cruz, 10 – Mellencamp is “going to fight really hard.”
“I can’t imagine my life without them, so I’m going to do everything I possibly can, no matter how mean it makes me,” she stated and began laughing as she said the following sentiment. “I can’t imagine — does this sound like a narcissist? — I can’t imagine any of them living without me.”
A Look at Teddi Mellencamp’s Cancer Battle
Mellencamp has always kept her fans updated throughout her cancer battle, which began in 2022 when she was diagnosed with stage II melanoma in 2022. As a result, she had 17 melanomas removed
Then, in February 2025, Mellencamp announced that doctors had found multiple tumors on her brain that had been “growing for at least six months.”
“Two of the tumors will be surgically removed today,” she revealed in her Instagram post. “The remaining smaller tumors will be dealt with via radiation at a later date. I am blessed to be surrounded by my children, family, friends, doctors, nurses, and surgeons who are doing everything possible to get me back into better health.”
Doctors ultimately removed four tumors, but they found additional tumors in her brain and her lungs following the surgery. On April 3, she took to Instagram, announcing that she officially has stage four cancer.
But the following day, she got to ring the bell after finishing her final day of radiation.
