The Bachchans’ Ad: Shweta Never Wanted To Act!

The saddest thing about the withdrawal of the jewllery ad featuring the father and daughter Amitabh and Shweta Bachchan, is that this was Shweta acting debut of sorts.

Shweta never wanted to face the camera.

Says a family friend , “For years and years Shweta has been offered the best of banners and film projects. But she desisted.She has an inbuilt resistance about an acting career. Her brother Abhishek was the actor . She was not. She got offers from Karan Johar, Rakesh Roshan , R Balki, among others. But her answer was always a polite no. She was more into writing like her grandfather Harivansh Rai Bachchan.”

The jewellery ad gave Shweta a chance to share the screen with her father.

Says the family friend, “She agreed only because this was her chance to share screen space with her father. And now when the ad has gotten into trouble she’s unlikely to ever face the camera again.”
