On August 28, Disney+ released character videos teasing the birth of two captivating leads in its upcoming original series Tempest. The clips highlight the intriguing relationship between Seo Mun-ju (played by Jun Ji-hyun) and Baek San-ho (played by Kang Dong-won), blending espionage and romance to heighten curiosity.
Tempest follows Mun-ju, a UN ambassador who has built an international reputation, as she tracks down the forces behind an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate. Protecting her is San-ho, a mysterious elite agent with no official nationality, as together they uncover a truth threatening the Korean peninsula.

Jun Ji-hyun’s character video immediately grabs attention with her chilling monologue: “I had a dream. That woman was dying.” As Mun-ju, she decides to run for election in order to expose the plot behind the attack. Meanwhile, Kang Dong-won’s line, “I watched her. A woman unaware of the danger she was in,” hints at the complex ties between the two.
“I believe the only key we have is Baek San-ho. I want to open it, to see where that door leads,” Mun-ju declares, showing her determination. The footage then shifts to scenes of San-ho risking everything to protect her, sparking questions about how their dynamic will shift from spy-thriller tension to an emotional romance.

Kang Dong-won’s own teaser opens with, “I had a dream. In the dream, I was a woman,” as he watches Mun-ju from afar. Known as an ace in a global mercenary company, San-ho’s true identity remains unknown. Tasked by a mysterious figure to guard Mun-ju, he chooses to stay by her side, even at the edge of danger. When Mun-ju questions his loyalty, he calmly replies, “I don’t care. I’ll just do my job,” breaking down her defenses while leaving viewers wondering about his true motives.
Amid life-threatening terrorist threats, the two embark on a perilous journey that balances trust and suspicion, showcasing a chemistry that has already ignited global anticipation.

Fans flooded social media with reactions to the released clips, writing: “I’ve been waiting so long. Hurry up, September 10!” “How can he keep looking this good?” “Their acting tones are perfect—truly top-tier actors,” “Kang Dong-won’s face tells a whole story,” and “This will be the most anticipated K-drama of late 2025.” Many praised the “crazy casting” and called it a combination destined for success.
Adding to the hype, Tempest is penned by Jung Seo-kyung (Decision to Leave, Little Women) and directed by Kim Hee-won (Queen of Tears, Vincenzo), making it one of the most anticipated collaborations of the year. With such a powerhouse creative team and Korea’s most celebrated actors, the series is expected to reaffirm the global strength of Korean storytelling.
Tempest will premiere on Disney+ with three episodes on September 10, followed by two episodes weekly from September 17, totaling nine episodes.
