Now that The Fantastic Four: First Steps is hitting Disney+ this week, it’s the perfect release to tee up the Avengers: Doomsday trailer, which is speculated to debut soon. The MCU’s Fantastic Four movie was their final theatrical release of 2025, but it’s the perfect precursor for what’s to come from Marvel Studios.
On Wednesday, Nov. 5, The Fantastic Four: First Steps releases on Disney+, allowing MCU audiences to rewatch the introduction of Marvel’s First Family. It’s an important MCU entry because Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) are set to be key members of the MCU when the superhero franchise tackles its biggest villain yet next year.
Avengers: Doomsday will introduce the MCU’s take on major Marvel villain Victor Von Doom, aka Doctor Doom, with franchise veteran Robert Downey Jr. trading in the role of Iron Man for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ next antagonist. With a theatrical release date set for Dec. 18, 2026, eager fans are already anticipating the debut of the film’s first trailer, which is purported to be soon.
When Will The Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Release?
It’s possible that the Avengers: Doomsday trailer could release before the end of 2025, with speculation tying it to the debut of Avatar: Fire and Ash in theaters next month. It would certainly make sense for Marvel Studios’ parent company, Disney, to promote their big 2026 release with the latest sequel to the highest grossing movie of all time.
If that’s the case, then The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ early November Disney+ release gives audiences plenty of time to catch up on the MCU before the Doomsday trailer inevitably takes the internet by storm. Although First Steps was a modest success at the box office, to the tune of a $521 million worldwide haul, it’s likely there are folks who haven’t seen it yet.
Those viewers can watch The Fantastic Four: First Steps before the Avengers: Doomsday trailer, giving them the context they need for the characters who will be joining Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Marvel’s next big crossover film. After all, First Steps set up Doomsday in some important few ways.
How The Fantastic Four: First Steps Sets Up The Avengers: Doomsday Trailer
When the Avengers: Doomsday cast was revealed, it was confirmed that all four stars of The Fantastic Four: First Steps would appear in the film. This team, along with the New Avengers from Thunderbolts*, are undoubtedly set to be important in the movie, not least of which because Doctor Doom is typically a Fantastic Four villain.
However, The Fantastic Four: First Steps post-credits scene also revealed a first look at Doctor Doom in the MCU, showing him interacting with Reed and Sue’s son Franklin Richards. While the fallout of that interaction may not be a focus of the Avengers: Doomsday trailer, it’s incredibly likely that the Fantastic Four themselves will feature heavily in the footage.
For now, it remains to be seen when the Avengers: Doomsday trailer will release, and what exactly will be included in the teaser, but one thing is certain: The Fantastic Four will be there. As such, now is the time to watch or rewatch The Fantastic Four: First Steps, so it’s perfect that it starts streaming on Disney+ tomorrow.
