The Odyssey Set Photos Show Matt Damon’s Ripped Odysseus Shirtless

New photos of shirtless Matt Damon on the set of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey have emerged online.

Damon is currently filming The Odyssey, which will be released in United States theaters in 2026. Written and directed by Nolan, the film also stars Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, and many more.

Damon, who is playing Odysseus in the movie, was spotted filming scenes while shirtless for The Odyssey. View them, via a handful of X posts, below:

What else do we know about Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey?

The Odyssey is one of two ancient Greek epic poems attributed to Homer, a Greek poet who is also credited as the author of the Iliad. The story revolves around a Greek hero, Odysseus, returning home from the Trojan War after being presumed dead. The Odyssey is widely considered to be one of the most important works in literary history.

“Christopher Nolan’s next film The Odyssey is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology,” Universal previously said about the upcoming film. “The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.”

In addition to the aforementioned actors, The Odyssey stars Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Mia Goth, Corey Hawkins, and Cosmo Jarvis, among others.

Damon previously worked with Nolan on 2014’s Interstellar, which saw him play Dr. Mann, and the Oscar-winning Oppenheimer movie from 2023. Last year, he appeared in Ehan Cohen’s Drive-Away Dolls and Doug Liman’s The Instigators, while he also had a voice role in John Krasinski’s IF. 

Nolan’s The Odyssey will be released in United States theaters and IMAX on July 17, 2026, from Universal Pictures.
