Making decisions in The Outer Worlds 2 isn’t always cut and dry, but occasionally you’ll come across a quest where the decisions actually are about as straightforward as they appear. One example is when you reach Fort Endurance in the Golden Ridge area and realize what’s going on with their “top-ranking officer.”
Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds 2 is packed full of quirky and hilarious NPCs, and some of the best examples in the Golden Ridge region are Trooper Wentworth and his Mantisaur Captain Wotjek in Fort Endurance during the “Pinching the Pupa” quest. Players will be tasked with tracking down a pupa in a Mantisaur layer, and will have to decide whether to hand it over to Wentworth or give it to Biologist Bradford in the name of science.

Mantisaur Wotjek Reacts As Expected
After you go through the trouble of tracking down the Pupa in The Outer Worlds 2, you’ll need to head back to Fort Endurance and make a decision. At this point, you should have already spoken with both Trooper Wentworth and Biologist Designer Bradford, and it’s pretty clear that Wentworth is up to something strange.
Wentworth claims that he is able to speak with the Mantisaur captain, and wants the Pupa to prove once and for all that he has a special connection and ability to understand the beast. If you decide to give him the Pupa, Bradford will protest vehemently, but you’ll receive 1500x bits, XP, +1 reputation gain with Auntie’s Choice, and the Cleo’s the Hunt shotgun.
Additionally, instead of doing as Trooper Wentworth intends, Mantisaur Wotjek simply eats the Pupa, destroying it for good and leaving Wentworth looking like a fool. Soon after, Fort Endurance will be attacked by a swarm of Mantisaur enemies that are angry because you took their Pupa.
What Happens If You Give The Pupa To Biologist Bradford
Bradford Sees Through Wentworth’s Charade
If you decide to listen to Biologist Bradford and hand over the Pupa in the name of Science, you’ll still have to face the swarm of Mantisaurs at Fort Endurance. You’ll also receive the Cleo’s the Hunt shotgun, bits, and XP as well.
However, siding with Bradford results in a +3 reputation increase as opposed to just +1, and you’ll help Bradford significantly in her pursuit of career advancement, not to mention finally putting a stop to Trooper Wentworth’s ridiculous ruse.
You Should Give The Pupa To Biologist Bradford
Science Wins The Day!
While you’ll get the Cleo’s the Hunt shotgun, XP, and bits regardless of who you give the Pupa to, it’s recommended to give it to Biologist Bradford as you get a higher reputation increase. Further, it’s pretty obvious that Wentworth is lying about his abilities and using this ruse as a way to hold on to power in Fort Endurance.
Giving the Pupa to Biologist Bradford might not be all in the name of science, as she is clearly trying to climb the corporate ladder, so to speak. However, her methods do not require deception, and at the end of the day, Wentworth is very hard to sympathize with. Ultimately, giving the Pupa to Biologist Bradford is the better decision for Fort Endurance in The Outer Worlds 2.
