The Precious Advice BLACKPINK’s Jennie Wished She Received As A Trainee

It shaped how she prepares for a performance today.

When YG Entertainment slowly revealed the members of their newest group BABYMONSTER, fans were introduced to seven trainees, Ruka, PharitaRoraAsaChiquitaAhyeon, and Haram. Fans were treated to clips of their unique talents and daily lives while they were training.

While it was believed that all seven members would be debuting as BABYMONSTER, YG Entertainment intially shocked fans when they announced that they didn’t intend to make BABYMONSTER a seven-member group.

BABYMONSTER will never be a seven member group. It will definitely be less than seven.

To determine the final member line-up for the group, the company announced that the seven trainees would undergo a “last evaluation” to determine their status in the future group.

But we all know that didn’t happen in the end, with BABYMONSTER the seven membered group that we know today. Anyway, when the first episode of Last Evaluation was released, it showed the trainees being split into two groups to carry out a vocal mission with 30 days to prepare for their performance. The episode focused on Team A, which consists of Ruka, Pharita, and Ahyeon.

For their vocal mission, they had the challenge of performing BLACKPINK Rosé‘s song “Gone.” Team A planned to make the song their own with their unique vocal colors and a newly added rap to show off Ruka’s skills.

As the three prepared for their performance, Pharita’s vocal condition took a turn, causing the highlights of the chorus to be given to Ahyeon.

As the group worked to adjust to the changes and make the best of an unfortunate turn of events, a surprise mentor, BLACKPINK’s Jennie, visited them to monitor their performance and give them valuable advice as a member of one of YG Entertainment’s boundary-breaking girl groups.

When Jennie entered the practice room to surprise the members, she gave them a heartwarming pep talk with advice she wished she had known as a trainee. As BLACKPINK’s talented main rapper and lead vocalist, she had advice for Ruka regarding her rap performance.

When Ruka asked her sunbae for advice on overcoming nerves on stage, Jennie knew just what to say from her experience.

Before going on stage, rather than thinking about things like, ‘What if I’m not in tune,’ I think of how I’m going to shock everyone sitting out there.

When it came to BLACKPINK’s group mentality during their trainee days, Jennie explained that it wasn’t about becoming the “best singers or dancers” but about proving their all-or-nothing mentality and determination to debut, letting nothing stand in their way.

I think it would have been good if someone told me this when I was a trainee. That’s why I’m saying all these things I wish I knew when I was a trainee… I hope people can see that from you guys too.
