The Snake, Fox’s newest reality TV competition from Jersey Shore creator SallyAnn Salsano, has one of the best reality TV villains I’ve seen in years in Kethryn Cavender, who’s piquing my interest for one specific reason. Kethryn, who joined the cast of The Snake season 1 along with several others who have been described as master manipulators, has been open on the show about knowing how to push people’s buttons. The conceit of The Snake is simple: one person gains power as the Snake each week, and in a chain reaction, others are chosen to remain safe until someone’s eliminated.
While The Snake’s concept is simple, the inner workings of the game have proven to be incredibly complicated, even after just a couple of episodes. With some contestants coming into the game being honest about who they are and what they’re doing, others like Kethryn have chosen chaos, lying about everything in order to make themselves seem like the best possible person to align with. Kethryn, a tech manager from New York, has been dominating the game socially, and with her strategic ability to move through the crowd of the game with a stealth ease, she’s already winning everyone over.
