The supernatural horror anime The Summer Hikaru Died is streaming worldwide on Netflix in over 50 countries, including the US, Canada, India, Brazil, Japan, and more.
Fans can watch it in at least 10 different languages, with subtitles and audio options including English, Hindi, Spanish (LatAm & Spain), Thai, Portuguese (Brazil), French, German, Italian, and Indonesian. Netflix began streaming the anime in dubbed languages on October 31, 2025.

The series quickly became a hit for its unique blend of psychological horror, rural mystery, and Queer storytelling. The series originally aired on Netflix weekly starting July 6, 2025, in Japanese audio only. The English dub was released on October 31, 2025, just in time for Halloween.
The anime is produced by CygamesPictures and directed by Ryohei Takeshita (Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night). Based on the manga by Mokumokuren, the series tells the story of Yoshiki Tsujinaka and his childhood friend Hikaru Indo.
When Hikaru mysteriously disappeared in the mountains and returned changed, Yoshiki realized that the real Hikaru was gone, replaced by an otherworldly entity. The mix of psychological horror and mysteries made the anime one of the most talked-about releases of the year.

While Netflix did not list the dub credits officially, many voice actors confirmed their involvement via social media. VSI Los Angeles handled the English dubbing with Haley Veres as the voice director.
Daman Mills has announced on X/@DamanMills that he’s playing Tanaka. Paul Castro Jr. is voicing Hikaru, and Kyle McCarley is voicing Yoshiki. Here’s the voice cast list (via Fandom):

The Summer Hikaru Died Season 2 Announced

After Season 1’s ending, CygamesPictures confirmed Season 2 of The Summer Hikaru Died was in production. A teaser video and key visuals were released. Alongside this, the creators also released two brand new illustrations. While no release date has been confirmed, fans are eagerly anticipating the continuation of Yoshiki and Hikaru’s story (via Crunchyroll).

Season 1 covered the first two arcs of the manga: The Daily Life arc and the Mystery Solving Arc. Season 2 will likely adapt the third arc, The Hold Closing Arc. The manga has a total of 7 volumes published, and fans believe that’s not enough material for season 2.
As the season 2 release date has not been announced yet, fans have to wait. Till then, enjoy the dub version on Netflix.
